Wk 6-Consumption & Production

Society are both consumers and producers of media. This is a result of the development of technology. Everday we are passed on media which we consume. Cinema's would be shared by members of the public, this could be anyone. Television is shared privately by members of the household and the PC is more for personal use. However, whilst we are constantly being consumed by all this media we also have the option of producing material for others to consume. People are now producing their own media via sites such as youtube, facebook, myspace and other social networking websites. They can upload their personal photos and videos for others to see.Mobile phones are also becoming an increasingly popular form of media consumption. Many of the mobile's available for the public contain news headlines, sports reports, music downloads and are a method of accessing facebook, youtube and basically the whole internet! Technology has sure come a long way and it has become very easy for someone to be a producer of media as it is to be consumed by it.
